A lot of people have asked me how I got to be so obsessed with Nintendo. Well today, I’m here to tell you the story.
My first real experience with video games was when I was about three or four. Every summer, my parents had to go work at this camp, and we were dragged along for the ride. But, fortunately, the trailer we stayed in every summer for four years had a GameCube lying next to the TV. The GameCube in our small trailer only had three games in it’s library: Luigi’s Mansion, Pikmin and WaveRace Blue Storm. I fell in love with Luigi’s Mansion and Pikmin. Luigi’s Mansion scared me to death, and Pikmin had cute, little plant creatures. Yep, it was gaming at it’s finest.
After that, I kind of took a pause in my gaming. Somehow, we had a GameBoy Advance and I’d bought a DS, but that’s it. Until one day, I had this great idea that I would go over to my friend Tanner’s house, so I did. But little did I know that something far greater than my friend’s company awaited me. Yes, my friend owned a Nintendo Wii! And better yet, he had Lego Batman to go with it.
After that day, it was all so clear. Everything made sense. I realized my purpose in life. I was going to live and breathe Nintendo til the day I died, so I begged my dad into getting me a brand new Wii. Along with my Wii, I got the previously mentioned Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Star Wars and Wii Sports! Then, Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out, and I played that game to death. I thought it couldn’t get any better than that. Not until I was snooping around the Nintendo Channel, and saw a trailer for the brand new Wii U and Pikmin 3! I was captivated by the Wii U. I can still remember Iwata’s voice introducing all the crazy new features. I was more than in awe. I was thinking THERE’s ANOTHER ONE!!! NO WAY!!! Unfortunately, I was a little late to the Wii U party because I was a ten-year-old kid and there wasn’t exactly money flying out of my pockets.
I was always up to date with my handheld consoles, though. The main reason I wanted to buy a Wii U when I did was because of seeing all these awesome Wii U games in the Wii U section of the 3DS eShop. Fortunately for me, I was living in Alaska at the time, and they have these Permanent Fund Dividends. It’s where you get free money. Out of that money, my dad allowed me ten percent which was about $200 that year. I also had a whole twenty dollars in my allowance. So I forced my brother and sister to help me with the other $55, and I finally bought a Wii U.
Ever since buying my Wii U, I’ve gotten an N64, SNES, GameCube and an NES, snd I’ve started this blog. I’ve had a great time playing Nintendo’s greatest creations, and I can’t wait to play more!
